I posted on our Spoken Word blog today about the Podcasting meeting with our librarians here at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Library Podcast Meeting
January 16, 2007 by libraryfuturesCatalogue your own books quickly with LibraryThing and a CueCat barcode scanner
January 15, 2007 by libraryfuturesReally interesting post about LibraryThing from my colleague Graeme on his personal blog. LibraryThing is one of my favourite Web 2.0 sites but I just haven’t used it enough yet. Using a barcode scanner to get books quickly and efficiently into it is very attractive. I think I must get one of these cute CueCats and try it out.
An update from Graeme on modifying the scanner, in other words declawing the cat. (lol)
An Interview with Casey Bisson
January 10, 2007 by libraryfuturesPicked this up via the TALIS Panlibus blog ….
EducauseConnect has a 13 minute podcast interview with Mellon Award winner Casey Bisson – Plymouth State University Information Architect, recorded at the CNI Fall Task Force Meeting. He talk about use of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 in educational contexts, and the Mellon Award for further development of his WPOpac software. “It’s an OPAC – a library catalog, for my readers outside libraries – inside the framework of WordPress the hugely popular blog management application.“
‘Library Futures’ day in Blackpool
January 10, 2007 by libraryfuturesOn Monday 8th January 2007 I was invited by Chris McAllister, Head of Learning Resources at Blackpool and The Fylde College to deliver a day of training for her library staff. The theme was ‘Library Futures’ and gave me a chance to talk about our own work on Spoken Word, as well as my broader thoughts on Web 2.0 and Library 2.0. The College is in the process of planning a redesign of their library/learning centre space, so I also discussed our own experiences with the Glasgow Caledonian University Saltire Centre. The programme for the full day is listed below, together with links to the Powerpoint presentations I used.
